Enrichment
Cluster
As part of Riverside’s commitment to quality teaching and
learning we run extension programs. A number of students were identified
by teachers as having particular gifts and talents. These students
were surveyed about their interests and attitudes. The students
are divided into 2 groups, participating in the semesterised Enrichment
Cluster.
The first group have started to meet for three periods over the
fortnight. The students have commenced researching their projects
which will be completed by the end of semester 1.
Some of the projects include:
- Establishing small businesses in the areas of catering, clothing
design, childrens toys, landscape gardening and an animal shelter.
- Riverside Reflections (a History of the school) Volume III
- History of Avoca Surf Lifesaving Club
- Biography of a young refugee from Kosovo
- Illustrated children's story
- The history and method of cartooning
- Documentary on the history of movie making (focus area special
effects)
- Illustrated poetry book
As part of the enrichment cluster students will develop skills in:
- project management
- research
- organisation
- small business management
- publication
We look forward to providing further information and progress reports
on the school’s website. If you have any questions concerning
the Enrichment Cluster please do not hesitate to contact me.

Technology Crew
Riverside gives girls opportunities to excel in any field of their
choice. Some girls do not like to be in the spotlight, but rather
control the spotlights. Riverside has technology crews which assist
with:
- sound and lighting for school assemblies
- setup of data projectors and laptops for presentations at assemblies
and parent information evenings.

do want they want. A number of girls are learning to program
in Visual Basic. Girls start by working on simple programs
which display messages and do basic calculations, but all
are aiming to write their own computer games. Computer games
which have been written by this group are Connect 4, Master
